Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions.
Why does FB weld the components of a conveyor chain together in many cases?
In applications with high lateral or axial loads, we weld the ends of the chain pins to the outer plates. This connection is then much more stable than a conventional riveting.
For chains that are subject to particularly high loads, we also weld the chain bushing to the inner plates. This gives us even more stability and an increase in breaking strength of more than 30%. The chain will last significantly longer and is less susceptible to damage. This saves the customer repair and replacement costs.
What are the advantages of the RotaLube® system over conventional lubrication systems?
We use the RotaLube® lubrication system where a conventional system reaches its limits. This is the case, for example, when the lubricant cannot be dosed precisely enough, which results in lubrication failures or even over-lubrication. With the patented RotaLube® applicators, the oil reaches the places where it is needed – and in the desired quantity. In many cases, this enables us to significantly reduce lubricant consumption, which often means that the investment pays for itself even faster than just through the reduced maintenance costs.
What information does FB need from me to be able to create an offer?
The more precise your information, the easier it is for us to offer you the right product! In addition to your company and contact details, we primarily need the dimensions, such as chain pitch, pin diameter, link dimensions and some other data. For this purpose, we will send you a data sheet in which the relevant information is explained and can be entered. Or even better: you can request our technical field service, we will look at your needs and your application on site and take care of the rest.
Does FB Ketten have a field service?
Yes, because it is very important to us to provide good technical support and advice to ensure that our customers get the right product. In most applications, many crucial parameters change over time, such as conveyor speed, conveyor volume or other influencing factors. In Germany, you can rely on the expertise of 10 application engineers and there are many more in Europe and also in Africa with well over a hundred years of experience! Some people also understand installation as field service – here too, you are in the right place with us!
Where does FB produce?
FB produces conveyor chains primarily at the group's own site FB Ketjutekniikka - or FB Ketju for short - in Finland. Other products such as roller chains and sprockets are also manufactured at other European sites and in Asia. The same requirements for quality and working conditions apply at all sites. Sustainability is a very high priority here.
What does a chain wear gauge cost?
The prices for the FB chain wear gauges are as follows:
Quantity in pcs | Plastic version (in €/pcs.) | Stainless steel version (in €/pcs.) |
1 | 77,00€ | 97,00€ |
2-4 | 65,00€ | 82,50€ |
5-9 | 54,00€ | 73,50€ |
10-49 | 51,50€ | 70,00€ |
50+ | by appointment | by appointment |
The measuring tool, also known as a chain gauge, is available from stock in plastic or metal versions. By the way – our chain gauge can also be used to measure the wear of roller chains.
Can FB convert spare part numbers of other manufacturers?
FB can easily break down the spare part numbers of many manufacturers, but not all of them. For this, we provide our customers with good data sheets or we measure on site.
What delivery times can be expected?
If your order is for stock items, we will ship on the same or the following day. If the chains are to be cut to the required length, it may take a little longer, depending on the quantity. For example, chain for forklifts always leaves our premises on the same day. For production goods, the delivery time varies depending on availability and order volume.
What are the terms of delivery and payment?
We agree attractive individual terms with our customers.
